Upon completion, the house was equipped with a robust gutter system that effectively diverted rainwater, protecting the foundation and eliminating basement flooding. During: Structural and Ventilation Enhancements
Our team got to work installing the necessary gutters and downspouts on the east side of the house, ensuring that water would no longer pool near the foundation. As we inspected the roof, we removed the damaged CDX plywood and replaced it with sturdy OSB boards. The customer had been informed that more boards would likely be needed than originally contracted, and we ensured she remained updated as we uncovered the extent of the repairs. In addition to the structural improvements, we installed SmartEave vents to enhance the attic's airflow and prevent future moisture issues. Before: Gutter Gaps and Ventilation Blockage
The homeowner contacted Klaus Roofing of Ohio after noticing water pouring off the roof's east side and flooding the basement due to the absence of gutters. Upon further inspection, we discovered that poor ventilation in the attic was contributing to moisture buildup. The attic air was stagnant and hot because blown-in insulation, installed by the homeowner's late husband, had blocked the soffit vents. We proposed installing SmartEave vents to improve airflow and planned to replace sections of soft CDX plywood caused by the trapped moisture.
