What is Roof Deck Tape?
It may seem like all roofing companies are the same and install roofs the same way. This is actually not the case — Klaus Roofing does things differently.
One of the ways we do roofing differently is with our unique deck tape. Not only do we have a Klaus-exclusive brand, Sealoron XT, but we also install the tape when many other roofers may not. Deck tape is not required by the state when installing a roof, so many roofing contractors do not use it.
Why Do We Need to Use Deck Tape?
Simplified, the layers of a roof are decking (typically plywood), underlayment, and shingles (or another type of roof material like metal). Deck tape is used on the decking to seal all the seams between pieces of plywood, both horizontally and vertically. The tape is a self-adhesive and waterproof air and vapor barrier.
Klaus Roofing of Ohio’s Operations Assistant said of deck tape, “The idea is that even if all the materials were stripped off the roof, you still have protection from water intrusion through the seams.”
That means, even if the underlayment and shingles were ripped off or damaged by a storm or other incident, your roof will still keep your home dry.
This is just another way Klaus Roofing of Ohio takes care of our customers!
